Welcome
It is our great pleasure and honour to invite you to attend the 5th World Congress on Tissue Banking in conjunction with the 12th International Conference of Asia Pacific Association of Surgical Tissue Banks. This to be held from 2 to 6 June 2008, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The main objective of the Congress is to gather world experts in the field of tissue banking, to exchange knowledge and insights into new clinical applications. In line with the theme
“What’s New in Tissue Banking”, the congress provides an ideal opportunity for participants to strenghten or establish new contacts and to promote global linkages and collaborations in facing new challenges of tissue banking.
Three pre-congress workshops will convene on 2 June 2008. The workshops will cover three pertinent issues in tissue banking: Radiation Sterilisation of Tissue Grafts, Tissue Donor Coordination & Procurement and Biomechanics for Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering.
The Congress (3 – 5 June 2008) consists of plenary lectures and themed symposia, covering all fields of basic research on cell and tissue banking, clinical applications of preserved tissue allografts and tissue engineering. Distinguished scientists and clinicians are invited to give plenary lectures on current advancement and issues in tissue banking.
A scientific visit will be organised for the delegates on the last day of the Congress (6 June 2008) to irradiation facilities and a tissue bank at the Malaysian Nuclear Agency.
While keeping abreast with latest developments in tissue banking, delegates would also have the opportunity to discover Malaysia, a country rich with diversity in cultures and traditions. Delegates could relax and enjoy the climate, architecture and scenery of this tropical country.
